A Dutch manufacturer with a long-standing track record
Intercell is produced by Priema BV, a metal processing company based in Hoevelaken, the Netherlands. Priema was founded in 1958 and, in the decades that followed, built a reputation as one of Europe’s most capable precision sheet metal fabricators.
The company specialises in deep drawing, stamping, welding, finishing, and the assembly of complex metal components. Its customers come from some of the most demanding sectors in the world, including automotive, defence, offshore, rail, and petrochemicals. The standards set by these sectors have shaped Priema’s way of working at every level of the organisation.
Intercell began as an internal product development project. Priema had the metal processing expertise and the production capacity; the modular floor system gave those capabilities a practical application in the built environment. The system was registered as a trademark with the European Union Intellectual Property Office in 2003 and has been continuously developed and refined ever since.
A Product By
Three locations, one approach to quality
Priema operates three production facilities. The head office and primary production site are located at Zuiderinslag 22 in Hoevelaken. A second facility, Priema Cetra, is situated at De Nieuwe Haven 10 in Hardenberg. A third production site is located in Břeclav, Czech Republic. All three locations operate according to the same quality standards, audited and certified in accordance with international standards.
Certificates we hold
ISO 14001
ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised standard that specifies the requirements for an effective environmental management system. The environmental management system of Priema Cetra is certified in accordance with this standard.
ISO 9001
ISO 9001: 2008 is a standard that sets requirements for the quality management system of an organisation. ISO 9001 places emphasis on customer satisfaction and the resulting quality assurance and continuous improvement.
Priema has held the ISO 9001 certificate since 1996.
ISO 3834
The ISO 3834-2 certificate guarantees all quality requirements for qualified welding for clients within Priema BV. ISO 3834-2 is an international quality assurance system for fusion welding processes. Welding is a specialist process involving considerable risks, making it entirely logical that our clients impose specific requirements. Certification is almost always required by clients across all markets, including defence, offshore, automotive, rail infrastructure and the petrochemical industry. Within our quality system, the tasks and responsibilities relating to welding work are clearly defined. A prominent role in this regard is assigned to a welding coordinator. The duties of the welding coordinator cover determining the correct welding methods, welding qualifications, preparation, production, coordination, equipment, traceability, process monitoring, inspection and control of the welding process. With the ISO 3834-2 certificate, Priema meets the most stringent criteria within this standard, and thereby also fulfils all ISO 3834 requirements of our clients for structural steel, non-ferrous and aluminium welding.
IATF 16949
IATF 16949 is based on ISO 9001 and supplemented with sector-specific requirements to structurally ensure correct prioritisation and to achieve a process of continuous improvement through a number of proven methodologies. The ultimate objective of IATF 16949 is to increase delivery reliability and reduce the cost structure throughout the entire supply chain by continuously improving quality, effectiveness and efficiency.
The facilities in Hoevelaken and Hardenberg are certified in accordance with this standard.
What Priema actually produces
In addition to the Intercell floor system, Priema produces a wide range of precision sheet metal components for industrial clients. The company is particularly known for its deep-drawing capability: forming complex three-dimensional shapes from flat sheet steel, from simple cylindrical parts to more complex rectangular and asymmetric profiles. This broad capability enables Priema to guide a product from raw material to final assembly without the involvement of external suppliers, ensuring consistent quality and short lead times.

FAQ
Who is behind Intercell?
Intercell was developed, manufactured, and supplied by Priema BV, a Dutch metal fabricator founded in 1986 and headquartered in Hoevelaken. The system was registered as a European trademark in 2003 and is one of several products Priema manufactures alongside its industrial work for clients in the automotive, defence, offshore, and rail sectors.
Why does a metal fabrication company produce a flooring system?
Intercell grew out of Priema’s existing expertise. The modular floor panels utilise the same deep-drawing, stamping, welding, and finishing processes applied in the production of precision components for some of Europe’s most demanding industries. The result is a product for the built environment engineered to industrial tolerances rather than standard construction norms.
Where is Intercell manufactured?
All Intercell production takes place at Priema’s own facilities: the head office and primary site in Hoevelaken, a second facility in Hardenberg, and a third in Břeclav, Czech Republic. Nothing is outsourced. Every panel is produced at a facility operating to the same ISO- and IATF-certified quality standards.
Can we visit the production facility?
We regularly welcome architects, contractors, and end clients to our Hoevelaken facility to view the production process and see panels in production. Please use the contact form below to arrange a visit.
Does Priema B.V. manufacture exclusively for Intercell?
No. Intercell represents only a portion of a much broader manufacturing output. The majority of what Priema produces goes to industrial clients: deep-drawn components, welded assemblies, stamped parts, and complete sub-assemblies for automotive, defence, offshore, rail, and petrochemical applications. That broader manufacturing base is what gives Intercell its production depth, quality consistency, and short lead times.
