Intercell

Data centres and server rooms

Structured cable management beneath a floor engineered for heavy server equipment

Designed for data centres and server rooms

In a data centre or server room, hundreds of power and data cables converge within a limited floor area. Intercell organises this cabling neatly beneath a low-profile, hot-dip galvanised steel floor engineered to support both high point loads and uniformly distributed loads from racks and equipment. Floor panels can be removed without tools, ensuring cables remain quickly accessible during expansion, faults, or maintenance.

✓ High load capacity for server racks and heavy equipment
✓ EMC protection against electromagnetic interference
✓ Rapid cable access for expansion and maintenance
✓ 10 kN maximum working load per 25 × 25 mm load point

Cable density under control

Server racks frequently concentrate large numbers of cables in a single area. The high density of floor supports — 64 per m², with 16 pedestals per panel — creates naturally separated cable ducts beneath the floor. Power, data, and network cables can thus be kept consistently apart, even where cabling density per square metre is high.

Engineered for heavy server racks

10 kN1,000 kg

Racks and equipment are heavy and rarely distributed evenly across the floor. Intercell has been tested in accordance with EN12825 and achieves class 4B, with this maximum working load applied as a point load over 25 x 25 mm. The system also withstands impact tests with both a soft and a hard object, without failure.

Key Advantages

Core Benefits of the Modular System

Rapid Modularity

The interlocking system enables fast installation and reconfiguration, without drilling. Assembly on a levelled floor can be carried out easily via adhesive bonding. Available in 6 different fixed heights.

High Load-Bearing Capacity

Class 4B according to EN12825, with a maximum load of over 9 kN and a deflection of less than 2.5 mm. The system withstands both soft body and hard body impact tests without failure.

Durable and Recyclable

Intercell consists of a minimum of 25% recycled steel (LEED-approved). The steel base components are 100% recyclable.

Fire Safe

Fire resistance tested in accordance with EN13501-1 and EN13501-2, class Afl-s1. During a small-scale fire test under a load of 800 kg/m² the maximum deflection remained limited to 0.98 mm.

Acoustic Comfort

Enhanced sound insulation, both horizontal and vertical, and sound absorption with or without carpet. Through the use of acoustic barriers, the overall acoustics of the floor are further improved.

Suitable for Heating

The system is excellently suited for underfloor heating and central heating, thanks to the removable, lightweight floor panels.

Lightweight, without compromising load capacity

Despite its high load-bearing capacity, Intercell adds a maximum of 22 kg/m² to the existing structure. This is due to the combination of 64 floor supports per m² and galvanised steel, which — in addition to the load capacity — also simplifies transport and installation.

Everything You Need to Know
About the Product

What is the Intercell floor management system?

Intercell is a modular floor system for cabling and heating. It has steel pedestals, floor boxes, and panels for stability. It installs quickly and allows reconfiguration.

Is Intercell suitable for underfloor heating systems?

Yes. Intercell is specifically engineered to support underfloor heating systems while managing technical cabling, offering a dual-purpose solution.

How easy is it to reconfigure or move cables after installation?

Very easy. The modular panel design allows any panel to be lifted without tools, giving immediate access to the cabling below. Reconfiguration requires no drilling or special equipment.

What materials are used in Intercell products?

Intercell uses 0.75–2.0mm galvanized steel for all structural elements. Base elements are recyclable. Optional carbon-fiber tiles provide ESD protection.

How much weight does the Intercell system add to a building structure?

Intercell adds no more than 22 kg/m² to the building structure, making it one of the lightest floor management systems available on the market.
